Instagram Reel polls and comment prompts

Instagram captions can now do more than tell a story. With caption add-ons, you can turn the caption of your post, carousel or Reel into a poll or a question your followers answer in the comments.

It's one of the easiest ways to boost engagement on Instagram.

What are Instagram caption add-ons?

Caption add-ons are interactive elements you attach to the caption of your Instagram post. There are two types:

• Caption polls: your caption becomes a question and followers pick an answer
• Comment prompts: your caption becomes a prompt that followers answer in the comments

You can use one add-on per post. Stories are not supported, but you can use stickers there for this.

How do Instagram caption polls work?

A caption poll turns your caption into a question with 2 to 4 answer options. Followers open the comments and tap the answer they like. Instagram shows how many people responded and how long the poll stays open.

By default, a caption poll closes after 3 days. If you want to collect votes for longer, you can keep it open.

How do Instagram comment prompts work?

A comment prompt turns your caption into a question or a call to action that followers answer in the comments. On Reels, Instagram shows a Reply button above the caption. In the comments, followers tap Respond to prompt and write their answer.

The best part is that you choose the topic. A good prompt steers the conversation where you want it, whether that's feedback on a new product, ideas for your next video or stories from your community.

Asking questions in your caption is nothing new. Caption add-ons just make it much easier for people to answer.

How to add a poll or comment prompt in the Instagram app

1. Create a new post and tap Next until you reach the caption screen.
2. Below the caption field, tap Poll or Prompt.
3. Write your poll question or prompt.
4. For a poll, add 2 to 4 answer options.
5. Turn off End poll after 3 days if you want to keep the poll open longer.
6. Tap the check mark, then tap Share.

Keep in mind that polls cannot be edited after posting, so check your question and answers before you share.

How to schedule Instagram Reels with polls in PostFlow

1. Click New post and select your Instagram account.
2. Write your caption. It becomes the poll question or the prompt.
3. In Instagram settings, choose the post type: Feed or Reel.

5. For a poll, fill in options.
6. Turn on Keep poll open if you want the poll to run longer than 3 days.
7. Pick a date and time and click Schedule post.
